You Had Me At Hola by Alexis Daria

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars!

Synopsis: Jasmine Lin Rodriguez is breaking out of her soap opera roles to be the leading lady on a new romantic comedy and her co-star just happens to be telenovela star Ashton Suárez. After a humiliating break up with her musician boyfriend, Jasmine can't seem to escape the tabloids while Ashton has avoided them for almost a decade. In an attempt to balance his privacy with his fame, Ashton pushes everyone away. Both are trying to break through and focus on their careers when the attraction between them begins to burn. Jasmine is determined to prove to everyone that she is leading lady material and Ashton thinks he's ready to make it to Hollywood. Will the heat between them takeover or will they use their spark to realize their dreams?

Review: Alexis Daria really said representation matters with this book. Jasmine is a leading lady on a brand new romantic comedy with a majority Latinx cast?! Yes, please! The attraction between Ashton and Jasmine is palpable from the start but what really kept me reading was their vulnerability. The way they are able to open up to one another. Daria's use of scenes from the show is clever and cute! I love that the storyline of the show matches up with a lot of the situations in the actors' real lives. My favorite is the intimacy coach. If this is just the start of Alexis Daria's work, I'm excited to see what comes next.

Verdict:

The steamy scenes were wonderful Highly recommend this book to folks who like inclusive romances. There was a lot of representation throughout the book.
