Special Book Review: Sleeping with the Frenemy by Natalie Caña!

text: BOOK REVIEW. Below text, cover of Sleeping with the Frenemy by Natalie Caña. The cover depicts a light-skinned man with dark brown short hair in a gelled style, trimmed facial hair, and a white collared shirt with the sleeves rolled up. He is holding up a brown-skinned woman with long, black, curly hair, silver hoops, and a green polka dotted, strapped dress. They are in a park in Chicago during a purpl-pink-yellow sunset. Behind the book cover, the famous “Bean” sits with a pink-yellow ombre filter over it.

Sleeping with the Frenemy follows Sofi and Leo (the 3rd Vega) as they navigate a complicated relationship they've been hiding since high school. After her fallout with her bestie and Leo's sister Kamilah, Sofi stayed in Paris for a year, leaving Leo feeling abandoned. Leo almost gives up on her when Sofi arrives back home in Chicago out of the blue. After reconciling with Kamilah, Sofi is committed to saving her bestie's wedding but there's just one problem: she has to work with Leo to get it done.

There are so many things I enjoyed about Sleeping with the Frenemy! For one, the pride Papo Vega takes in meddling in his grandkid's affairs continues to be both hilarious and heartwarming. Sofi & Leo are both hard-headed & undeniably insatiable in some wicked ways but they also have a connection rooted in vulnerabilities that they only seem to show each other.

The 3rd book in the Vega Family Love Stories was very satisfying & I thank Natalie Caña for representing Puerto Rican women so well. It was beautiful to have an AfroLatina like myself be the romantic lead. I recommend this series to those who like their romance with humor, context, care, and relatively spicy sex scenes!
